National Siblings Day

April 10, 2013 is National Siblings Day; a day to cherish and appreciate your siblings. For Matt Scroggy, he thanks his sister, Sarah, every day. In July 2009, Sarah gave Matt an extra reason to be grateful for her in the form of a life-saving kidney. Matt was diagnosed with kidney disease in February 2009 and his sister was his living donor just five short months later. Matt graduated from the Ohio State University College of Pharmacy doctorate program in 2012, and is now working and living life to its fullest. 2014 National Donate Life Month

Celebrated annually every April, National Donate Life Month is a time when we raise public awareness that there is a critical need for more organ, eye and tissue donors and an increasing gap between the number of people whose lives depend upon receiving an organ transplant and the number of available organs. More than 121,000 men, women and children are on the waiting list for an organ transplant. Thousands more need tissue and corneal transplants each year.

2014 National Minority Donor Awareness Week

National Minority Donor Awareness Week, celebrated annually August 1-7, is a nationwide observance to educate minorities of the desperate need for donation and transplantation within the multicultural community and how to register their decision to Donate Life. Approximately 64 percent of those on New York's transplant waiting list are minorities. While people of all ages and ethnicities can save and enhance lives through donation, organs are matched to recipients by a variety of factors—such as blood and tissue type—which can vary by race and ethnicity. While skin color is not a barrier when it comes to organ donations and transplants, the odds of a transplant being successful are much greater when a minority recipient receives an organ from a minority donor.

NYS Annual Donor Enrollment Day

Thursday, October 6 is Organ Donor Enrollment Day in New York State and we're asking for your help.

We are rallying community members to make October 6th, 2016 the day to take action and join the New York State Donate Life Registry.

During last year's inaugural Organ Donor Enrollment Day, 3,100 New Yorkers made the decision to register as organ and tissue donors. Let's shatter that record in 2016!

Even more, Organ Donor Enrollment Day generated hope: New Yorkers do care, New Yorkers will take action and New York can do great things!
